Although established in the 1960’s, Back Bay Veterinary Hospital became a fixture of Newport Beach in 1978 when Dr. George Katcherian, an Armenian immigrant from Cairo, Egypt, bought the practice. Since 1978, Back Bay’s mission has been to provide the most caring service possible to patients, guests and their human friends through a team of dedicated professionals. Dr. K (as he’s often called) has not only grown one of Newport Beach’s most successful veterinary hospitals but has also become one of Southern California’s most sought after canine orthopedic surgeons, often miraculously healing leg, knee, and hip injuries for all types of dogs. Dr. Katcherian has a special interest in orthopedic surgery. He has trained with the best orthopedic surgeons in the country and is the first veterinarian in Southern California to be licensed to perform advanced surgery on dog knees. He also performs an array of smaller surgeries covering spay and neuters, tumor removal, amputations, and more.
